99LETTERS for the last few years has been quietly making what he defines "gagaku techno" - industrial-tinged minimal tracks steeped in metallic synths and grimy drone. Kinoshita explored this style across several records, playing with samples of traditional strings and percussion instruments used to create gagaku, a classical style of music that originates from Japan's imperial courts. Zigoku / 地獄 is his upcoming debut release for Phantom Limb following the acclaimed Kaibou Zukan, Makafushigi, and Honyaku Ensou (​翻​訳​演​奏​) records.
